BQ24640: Pros and Cons of using a supercap charger

Hi there,

As title, I'd like to know what are the pros and cons of using a supercap charger when comparing with a DC-DC converter?

In my opinion, the charging current can only be set by a resistor when using a DC-DC converter which brings in more power loss.

Actually, I am trying to promote BQ24640 to my customer for their supercap application.

Could you please comment?

The charger implements safety features such as the input overvoltage protection, and capacitor temperature sensing. It also has status indication to indicate charging and charge done.
