BQ20Z75-V180: Comparing .senc Files, .dfi content

Part Number: BQ20Z75-V180

Is there a way to compare two .senc files and compare the differences?

The .gg file does not contain the chem ID, where does the chem ID live? Is it in the .dfi? Or does it live in the remaining .senc file?

Since the chem ID is not in the "User-Accessible Data Flash" .gg file, are there other fields or parameters in the .dfi or .senc that can be modified?

Thank you,

  • Hi Salomon,
What are you trying to achieve in comaparing the sencs? The sencs are encrypted. Perhaps there is a different way to do what you are trying to do.
The dfi contains the chem id. The accessible parameters available to you in data flash are the only parameters you are allowed to modify.
  • I have two different senc files circulating in a number of batteries and need to determine the differences. I don't know exactly how they were modified. What I do know is that they are different. The only difference I see is the chem ID which you confirmed lives in the .dfi and not in the .gg file. It is important to record the exact configuration being programmed in the battery. The documentation (Figure A-6 of slua421a) describes the .gg file as the only user-accessible data flash. However,  the documentation (sluu278 Section 4) describes a method of modifying the chem ID using the EV software. And as you stated, the chem ID lives in the DFI. In essence, for configuration control, I need to know, with the highest certainty, that there are no other unintentional changes between the senc files. A confidence building question could be, is there any other DFI or senc parameters that may have been unintentionally changed between the two senc files? I understand that the DFI is not typically user accessible but it is clear that at least the chem id is, and I need to know which other parameters to check for potential differences.

  • Hi Salomon,

the gg files is enough to compare the differences. the chem id are the only other data flash parameters which could be different between two files. there is a command to read back the chem id from the devices.
    thanks
