BQ24002: Charging a Lithium Polymer Battery

In one of our product, we are using BQ24004 and Lithium Ion battery single cell (3.7V). Is it possible to use a Lithium polymer battery single cell ( 3.7V)? If it can be used, what changes are to be done in the circuit?

Please suggest.

The Part number is BQ24002 ( Not BQ24004).

Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer Battery charging profiles will be the same but consult manufacture for specific details on the battery you are charging. Key info is the charge voltage typical 4.2V, recommended charge current often expressed as 0.5C or 1C, charge temp range often 0C to 45C and termination current typically 10% of charge current.
The bq24002 is an older device released in 2000, a newer device with improved features such as the bq24040 may work better in your application.
