LM3410XSDSEPEV: What modifications are needed to put the kit into 400mA and 800mA configurations

Part Number: LM3410XSDSEPEV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3410XBSTOVPEV

Hello,

Besides the sense resistor, what else needs to change on the LM3410XSDSEPEV/NOPB or the LM3410XBSTOVPEV/NOPB evaluation kits to support 400mA and 800mA currents?

thanks,

...kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

The inductors on both EVMs are rated for high enough current so you should only need to change the current sense resistor.

However, keep two things in mind: First of all the EVMs may not be designed for the increased heat generated. They would likely be ok at room temperature but in any end applications just make sure you provide enough copper for heatsinking. Second, you are power limited by the minimum current limit. For example with the boost EVM you should be able to do 400mA fine but 800mA at 11.5V output will be beyond it's capability. Of course if you drop the output voltage to half then you could get the 800mA.

    Regards,

    Clint
