TPS27S100: EN, DIAG_EN pins

Guru 20090 points
Part Number: TPS27S100

Hello,

Can we use the device with always EN?
(using only pull up resistor for the EN, DIAG_EN pins).
Our customer may not use MCU for control the device..
Or, should we use Resistor divider(not only pull up) for EN, DIAG_EN pins ?

Also, in the datasheet P.6, there are EN pulldown resistors specification.
Are there any requirement of pullup resistors?
I think that there is no requirement if the EN and DIAG_EN pins current within -10mA of absolute maximum ratings.

I appreciate it if you would help this question.

Best Regards,
Ryuji

  • Hello, I' m not sure if well understood your point and hope my answers cover the questions.

1- The device can be always enabled and there is no issue with that. The device is self protected

2- Yes only one pull up resistor can be used for both EN and DIAG_EN pins as long as the absolute voltage max is not violated (less than 7V) and the lower limit on Logic high level is respected (higher than 2V).

3- The internal pull down resistors may have tolerance of +/-30% and the pull up has to take this tolerance in consideration.

4- the -10mA is the current out of the pin and this basically the internal ESD forward current
