BQ51025: Why is it not recommended for new design

Part Number: BQ51025
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ501210, BQ500215,

Hello,

I need to transfer at least 10W of power, so i try the eval board BQ51025EVM and it seems to work well. But when i look to the TI website, it says that this component is not recommended for new design, Why?

Thanks in advance.

Pierre Le Bouar.

  • Hi

TI transmitters are not recommended for new design, this includes the bq500215 and bq501210  transmitter.  The bq51025 will only provide 10W when operated with the 215 or 1210 transmitter.  If operated with standard Qi TX the bq51025 will only deliver 5W.  The bq51025 will not have a transmitter to support it and needs to be switched to not recommended for new design also.

    TI 5W receivers are active.

  • Thanks for the response!
That's answer to my question but why are the BQ500215 and bq501210 not recommended for new design?
  • The decision on NRND wireless power transmitters was driven by several factors that are not appropriate to explore on this forum. But none of them are technical and there are no problems with TI wireless power transmitters.
