Hello,

I am using the BQ34Z100EVM with Battery Management Studio 1.3.79. I would like to create a golden file to a specific battery : NiMH VHT-F with 12 cells in series (ARTS ENERGY).

I calibrated the gauge in voltage without any problem, but I think the current calibration didn't worked. I followed the instruction in sluu904 :

I Calibrate CC Offset and Board Offset before I calibrated current with -2000mA between BAT+ and PACK- but the value of current in bqStudio is not the same. Should the current value be correct after the calibration or should I make an optimisation cycle (charge/discharge) to have the right current value ?

Hi Tom,
You must ensure that current measurements are correct before you proceed with the optimization cycle. What is your current calibration procedure and what is the error after calibration? Do you get an error message or just wrong reported current?

Hi,
I discharge the battery with a -2A load and I measure the current with a multimeter. I don't get an error message, just wrong reported current.

Hi Tom,

What is the % error after calibration?

Before Calibration
1) What is the reported current by the gauge?
2) What is the measured current by your multimeter?

After Calibration
1) What is the reported current by the gauge?
2) What is the measured current by your multimeter?

Hi Bryan,

Sorry to answer so late. I can't answer your questions because after some calibration cycles I find a good value of Error_max (1%) and I create a golden Image even if the value of current was wrong.

After that, I reset the gauge with : Programming -> Browse -> bq34z100_G1_v0_16_build_17.srec -> Program to make an other calibration of the gauge but Battery Management Studio (1.3.79) doesn't detect the gauge (DashBoard) :

Do you have any idea to fix this problem ?

Hi Tom.

Programming the gauge ev2300 with a version 3.1c firmware will brick the gauge and you will be unable to recover the chip. You need to update the firmware on the ev2300 using a second ev2300 and the link below.

After I updated ev2300 the gauge was detected by bqStudio and the current calibration worked.
