If the inductor is rated for the extra current and the input voltage source can supply it, then the regulator will operate normally.

So, the inductor and catch diode could be damage if they have not extra rated. tps54360 did not reach overcurrent limit protection

Yes that is correct. I see you sent me a PM. I will just answer it here. If you are substituting TPS54360 for TPS54160, you may need to change the compensation as the internal gain stages are different between TPS54160 and TPS54360.
