BQ2000: Fail to charge battery up to 16.8V, charging stop around 16.3V

Part Number: BQ2000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD18543Q3A, LM5022,

Dears,

I have a customer who implement a design of  50W LED lamps that battery powered using boost driver LM5022, CSD18543Q3A and charger BQ2000.

The current issues are around charging:

-          Fail to charge battery up to 16.8V, charging stop around 16.3V. We are using 2 li-ion battery packs connected in parallel. Each battery pack is composed of 8 batteries of 2600mAh each, connected in 2 stacks of 4 batteries in series. External charger is at this moment 20V/2A (if design allowed we wish to use a 25V/2A charger). While charging we see voltage peak equivalent to charging voltage (ie 20V) and we are not sure that is safe for the battery.

-          We are not sure that we can charge the battery while the product is switch on. Should we add any other circuit?

Please give some support, your help will be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Jenny
