TPS3890: looking for a 60s reset IC with Manual reset funtion

Part Number: TPS3890
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3898, TPS3896

Dear Experts,

I am looking for a reset IC can do below function.

*used to force down powerbox when the button is pressed 60 sec*

Any recommend?

Thanks!

Ben

  • Ben,

I want to choose the correct part. Do you mean "power down when button is pressed for 60 seconds meaning the button must be low for the whole 60 seconds" or "power down after 60 seconds when button is pressed (and button press can be any length)"

The difference is whether the button needs to be held down for 60 seconds or if you simply want a 60 second delay after the button is pressed for any length of time.

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply. I am looking for "power down after 60 seconds when button is pressed“

Did we have suitable device can do this application?

  • Ben,

In that case, TPS3896 (push-pull output topology) or TPS3898 (open-drain output topology) will work by setting the delay to 60s using an external capacitor following the equation: tpd(r) (s) = [CCT (µF) × 4] + 40 µs

You can use the ENABLE pin connected to external button to trigger the reset.
