bq76PL455A-Q1: How to connect Hecules LaunchPad eval kit and bq76PL455EM?

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76PL455EVM,

Hi,

I am trying to run bq76PL455EVM board. Reading  "bq76PL455EVM and GUI User Guide" doc, seems I need the LaunchPad eval kit but can't find any info how to connect those two boards.

Is there any documentation explaining how to connect those two boards in order to run GUI?

Thanks,

Dick

  • Hi Dick,

    The pl455 EVM should be run directly from the GUI using an FTDI-Serial cable.

    If using the tms570ls04x launchpad with the pl455 EVM, download code composer studio and the example code has the required connections in the top of the sys_main.c file.

    Just for clarity, the GUI is not used with the tms570 AND the pl455 EVM. It is usually one or the other
  • Hi Dave,

    I do have the CCS and the sample and do really like to step into the code. How do I connect the launchpad with pl455 EVM?

    Thanks,

    Dick

  • Hi Dick,

    You will need female to female jumpers (or something similar) to connect from the launchpad pins to the pl455 EVM.

    These connections can be found in the sys_main.c file:

    J1 pin 1 (+3V3) ) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 3 (VIO)
    J1 pin 3 (SCI1_RX) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 5 (TX) **remove R8 from TMS570LS04x Launchpad
    J1 pin 4 (SCI1_TX) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 4 (RX)
    J2 pin 1 (GND) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 1 (DGND)
    J2 pin 3 (GIOA0) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 6 (nWAKE)
    J2 pin 4 (GIOA1) -> bq76PL455A-Q1 EVM J3 pin 2 (nFAULT)

    The tms570 launchpad also has the pin names on the bottom of the board
