TPS659037: POWERGOOD ball

Part Number: TPS659037

Hi,

I thought you’d be the quickest path to an answer regarding the POWERGOOD ball on the TPS659037 PMIC.  This ball is an open-drain and referenced to the Vvrtc source (at least the DS states the external pull-up to this ball should be made to that source).  I’m pretty sure the Vvrtc is the VRTC_LDO output supply which is 1.8V.  However, I looked at the eval board schematic in the user’s manual for the TPS569037, and they have it pulled up to 3.3V.  Checking the Sitara eval board just shows this pin left floating.  Could you help me nail down the actual voltage?

Thanks,

David

  • Hi David,

It should be LDOVRTC_OUT voltage, which is 1.8V nominal. It doesn't have to be pulled up to this rail, but it should be pulled up to a 1.8V signal. Pulling it higher than 1.8V can cause leakage in to VRTC (for example from 3.3V to LDOVRTC) which can pull the VRTC voltage up.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • Thank you, Karl!!  Hopefully this isn't causing any issues with those using the JP48 jumper on the TPS659037 eval board....that's what caused the confusion in the first place since they have an option to pull up to that rail via 10kΩ through that jumper.
