In DS to TPS54332 on chapter 7.3.5 discusses the soft start capacitor. There is no discussion on a discharge resistor.
The functional block diagram (chapter 7.2) says:
Charge takes place via a 2uA constant current source.
Discharge takes place via a MOSFET an 2kOhms in source line.
Discharge is tripped in case of shut down or clamp.
Moreover, the typical application (chapter 8.2) says:
R4= 1 MEGOHM // C5 Softstat Cap
Referring to figure 12:
Keep in mind, that we could have a pumping VIN of 0 - 5V during power up. Pumping frequency is 1-2 Hz for 2-6 sequences. So, discharge of softcharge could be essential for my understanding.
Question:
In what cases this discharge resistor is required as discharge has been foreseen internally?
