TPS5401: Buck_Boost Inverter application

Part Number: TPS5401
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62175

Hello

My customer is evaluating TPS5401 for FY2018 audio product.

Attached is rough sketch of  their schematic.

Anyway, customer  want to  control EN and RT/CLK.

Please let us know the recommended circuit of Circuit(1) and (2).

Is following circuit  in slva542a.pdf  OK for circuit (1) & (2) f?

Please give us your opinion.

Thank you and with my best regards

    Dear Tucker-san

    Thank you for your advice.

As your advice, slva540.pdf is better than  slva542a ,  because I am concern about VIN=EN =12V ( for customer's case).

(Its Okay for TPS62175, but EN < 5V  should be kept for TPS5401).

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    However, If VIN=3.3V ( customer’s case) and Vout = -14V, the criteria “ EN< 5V “ also “EN threshold >1.55V” seems  difficult  to satisfy.

    ( 5V zener may be necessary…)

So, I have  idea as arranged from  Fig8 on slva540.pdf using current-source and current mirror as attached ppt.

This idea has to be at least four transistors. If you have more simple idea, its so helpful for us.

Customer is now start to design using TPS5401.

Would yo please have your opinion?

    Best Regards

  • Kanji-san,

I do not directly support TPS5401. I just happened to know about that application note so i bought it to your attention. Let me see if I can direct this to the proper support channel for TPS5401.
