Could I get the TPS54202 max inrush current, we have some board with TPS54202 power failed with 19V input, 3.3V output.

when power on the output has no high current load.

BTW how much the TPS54202 capcitor load ability can support..

I(LIM_HS) High side current limit 2.5(Min) 3.2(Typ) 3.9(Max) A

I(LIM_LS) Low side source current limit 2(Min) 3(Typ) 4(Max) A

if the slew rate of the inrush current flow to the input pin is very high, it'll cause a high ring(resonance of the Vin) which will damage the IC

Hi lanjie,

Could you please provide more info for this failure? Is Vin and SW or SW and GND shorted? Could you share the schematic and layout? What is the capacitor value used in your application?

SW short to ground, input cap 10uF, output 22uF. inductor 10uH.

Hi lanjie,

If so, it is more likely that the device got overvoltage stress on SW. Could you try to add a snubber RC(1ohm, several hundred pf) on SW to GND to slow the slew rate of SW and reduce the SW spike?
