TPS7A47: Lowest temperature to start

Part Number: TPS7A47

Hello,
we develop low noise amplifier for RF transmitter. Our device planned to place on the top of radio tower. There are can be very cold due to high speed wind. We except that lowest temperature can reach -50 C. We don't work at this temperature, but want to start (turn on). We excepted, that device can self warm up to -40 C in some time and will work as expected in industrial temperature range.
Can you approve, that we thinking correctly and this behavior is quite likely? Or we should to place additional heater into device?

  • Hi Vladimir,

TPS7A47 was designed, tested, and characterized for operation including the ability to start up from -40 to 125 C. It is possible that the LDO may startup at temperatures lower than -40 C; however, we do not have a way to ensure that will be the case. We would recommend placing an additional heater to ensure startup.

Alternatively TPS7A47 has a version with an extended temperature range TPS7A4701-EP. The EP version is designed, tested, and characterized for operation from -55 to 125 C.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
