BQ76930: Battery Open circuit detect & average current consumption

Dear All:

I use the BQ76930 to design 10S BMS， I want to know if the IC has open circuit protection function that means it can detect whether each battery was properly connected to the BQ76930

and another question is what is the average current consumption of the BQ76930 under normal mode ？ Thank you for your help and look forward to you reply/

Hi Big Bill,

The bq76930 has both under and over voltage protection. If desired, cell balancing may be set to be independent of the UV and OV protection. The external cell balancing could be used to implement a cell connect test, however, open connections may damage the part. In addition, the device does offer load detection.

The current consumption of the device in normal mode differs based upon implementation. The typical and average currents are given in table 6.5 Electrical Characteristics in the Datasheet: www.ti.com/.../bq76930.pdf
