BQ25504EVM-674: Why resistors SUM to be 10 Mega ohm?

Part Number: BQ25504EVM-674

Hi,

I would like to ask following about BQ25504EVM.

Q1. Why OV, UV, Bat_Ok threshold settings resistors sum is suggested to be close to 10 Mega ohm? What are the consequences, technically, for not using 10 Mega ohm sum. Lets say sum to be 8.5 mega ohm?

Q2. Why MMPT threshold sum is suggested to be 20 Mega ohm?

Q3. Can I change all the threshold's sum to be 10 times / 100 times / 1000 times smaller? That's mean, each of OV, UV, Bat_ok's resistors sum  to be 1 Mega ohm or 100 k ohm or 10 k ohm?

Thank you.

Regards,

LB

  • Hello,
These values are chosen to ensure that there is enough current for the internal circuitry to differentiate between different resistors and leakage and to ensure minimal current is used for better efficiency. To meet the specified performance in the datasheet, you'll have to meet the resistor value requirements. The datasheet specification is not guaranteed if you are not within the recommended operating limits.
