BQ25570EVM-206: What is better for microbial fuel cell energy source, BQ25570EVM-206 or BQ25505EVM-218?

Part Number: BQ25570EVM-206
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25570, , BQ25505, BQ25504

Hi, my name is Ahmad Ali. I'm currently in highschool and I need help on a project that i'm working on.

I'm using microbial fuel cells, a new renewable energy source infamous for low current (below 10 micro amps) and non-uniform power output (due to the nature of the energy source)

In order to scale these energy sources, I'm looking for an application that boost the current enough for practical aplications.

After some web surfing, i came across these two circuits:

                                                                                               BQ25570EVM-206 analyzes the chip # BQ25570

                                                                                               BQ25505EVM-218 analyzes chip # BQ25505

  • Hello Ahmad,
Based on your question, i'm guessing you need help picking one out of those 2 devices. Take a look at the bq25504. It's similar to the devices you already stated except it doesn't have a buck converter like the bq25570 or a pin for a secondary battery like the bq25505. You simply connect your load to the VSTOR pin. I hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions. Best of luck with your project.

    Regards,
