TPS23861: TPS23861 common mode voltage&MPS detection current

Part Number: TPS23861

hi sir/madam,

  I have two questions.

1.tps23861 the common mode voltage can support how much V, how does his inrush condition.

2.Now customers use of TI TPS23861 POE switches, now with the customer of PD (AS1138), abnormal power supply now (after electric power), now find the reason, is the AP clients with low power consumption, the load current in the case of standby only 9 mA. Now the question for the client is whether it can adjust the software to make the MPS detection current of TI TPS23861 can be smaller (6-8mA) than 10mA,

  • Hi Dave,

I have notified our PSE expert.

    Thanks,
    Tom
  • Hi Dave,

    1. The absolute maximum common mode voltage of TPS23861 is 70V.

For inrush condition, please refer to the picture below.

You can see that during power on, while the port voltage is ramping up, the port current is limited to a different level. During this period, TPS23861 will control the external FETs Rdson to control the current according to different port voltage.

    2. TPS23861 can adjust MPS current level through register 0x29 as below, you can set the value to 0x00 for 7.5mA.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards

    Jack Chen
