UCC28910: Stability analysis of PSR controller

Part Number: UCC28910
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28911,

Hello Team ,

my customer Schneider  wanted to understand how is the loop compensation of the PSR flyback controller done ?

Do we have any documentation on the same ?

They are using UCC28911 in one of there product .

  • Hello Shreenidhi,

The UCC28910/1 devices samples the output voltage through the Np/Na turns ratio and adjusts the converters frequency (FM) or peak current amplitude to adjust the duty cycle (AM) at the sample point during transformer demagnetization. This follows the control law profile on figure 27. Because this is not a traditional feedback loop compensating the loop with a network analyzer and traditional compensation networks (type 1 or type 2) is not possible. It depends on the output capacitor reactance for stability. The data sheet gives an equation for sizing the output capacitor for stability and transient requirements.

    Cout > 400*Iout(max)/(Vout*fsw(max)

    Regards,

    Mike
