Duty cycle of TPS63710

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63710, LM2776

I have questions about TPS63710.

Our customer wants to use TPS63710 under the following conditions.

  Vin=5.0

  Vout=-5.0

  Iout=0.2A

In WEBENCH, we can not use this IC because duty cycle exceeds limit.

In datasheet p.6, maximum duty cycle of TPS63710 is 70%.

Is this IC really unusable?

If we can not use TPS63710, please tell us the optimum IC.

  Vin=5.0

  Vout=-5.0

  Iout=0.2A

  • Hi Nishizawa,

    Yes, this is correct as shown in the D/S title (it is an inverting buck (step-down) converter) and on page 1 with the output voltage limit.

    You can get 200 mA with a simple inverting charge pump like LM2776. Vout will be much lower than your Vin.

    If you need a regulated -5Vout, you need an inverting buck-boost converter like this: www.ti.com/.../tida-01457
