Our product uses the BQ24230 battery charger IC.
I’m looking into scaling up our production testing of our PCBs and I’m seeking some advice on how to test the BQ24230 in a production setup.
Obviously connecting to a real battery takes too long. We currently use a DC electronic load (Applent AT8612) to set a constant voltage at 3.0V, 3.7V and 4.2V and then record the current measured at each of those points.
Constant Voltage Battery condition simulated Expected charging current
3.0V Empty battery 80mA
3.7V Battery operating somewhere near 50% capacity 80mA
4.2V Full 0mA
We’re currently moving from single PCB testing, to testing 5 together in a panel, hence I’m looking to possibly create a dedicated PCB or buy something of the shelf
