TPS27S100: Custom Latch-OFF Circuit

Part Number: TPS27S100

I'm using the TPS27S100B to expose the IMON output to monitor the I_out with a comparator circuit.

I want to power on with the TPS27S100B enabled. If the IMON reaches my over-current level, the comparator triggers logic LO. I want to latch the TPS27S100B enable LO until power is reset.

I want to rely on the TPS27S100B over-current as a back-up to my threshold detect/latch-off. My latch-off occurs before the electronics experience thermal stress.

  • Hello,

By adding a pull down resistor on IMON, the voltage is linear up to 4V. As long as the load is below the over current threshold set by external pull down resistor on ILIM pin, the IMON voltage is in the linear region and proportional to load current. Once the load current reaches the current limit, IMON voltage jumps to above 4.3V. The comparator positive input should be around 4.3V and negative input is connected to IMON.

What is the specific question? do you have question on the device itself or need help on the latch circuit?

    Regards,

  • I'm looking for help with a latch circuit. For example, the current I want to trigger on is 1A. Based on my series R_IMON resistor, this is 3V. I have a resistor divider to compare the V_IMON so that when it goes > 3V, the comparator goes logic low. I would like to latch-in this signal and feed it back to the EN in order to keep the TPS27S100B in the OFF state.
