BQ25890H: maximum time for input source detection

Part Number: BQ25890H

Is there a maximum time for input source detection to complete?  I'm only interested in cases where it will end up with a Power good status.

Thank you

  • Hello Eric,

From adapter plug-in to poor source detection, the delay is 250ms; this includes the internal REGN 220ms turn on delay and 30ms poor source detection.

Once this is done, the input detection timing will depend on the type of adapter connected.

For USB BC1.2 detection (SDP, CDP), it takes approximately 80ms for the detection.

For a non-standard adapter detection, it may take up to 500ms.

If the adapter is DCP, it may take up to 200ms. If DCP is detected, the bq25890H will attempt to detect a HVDCP adapter if enabled over I2C; this step can add an additional 2000ms. The latter delay depends on the type of HVDCP protocol being used and its corresponding handshaking.

This means the total input source detection timing is 250ms + the delay for the type of input used.

    Hope this helps.
