TPS65217: Temp Sensor Continued

Part Number: TPS65217

The TPS65217 datasheet states "By default, the device is setup to support a 10 kΩ the NTC with a B-value of 3480".
Can you please elaborate where this is specified on a generic NTC specifications by providing an
example datasheet and the parameter in question.

Specifically, when datasheets or Digikey specify this parameter, it is not so straightforward. See the following parametric
filter snapshot from Digikey's thermistor catalog:

So, which is the B-Value B0/50, B25/50, B25/75, B25/85, etc?

In a random datasheet (attached), the parameter is listed in a table as B25/100. Is this the correct B-Value?

Bottom line, can you please tell me how to interpet the "B value" parameter specified on the TPS65217
datasheet with respect to the parameters called in thermistor specification tables?

  • Hi Daniel,

I think this is a continuation of this post:

You are right that it is the correct B-value. The numbers afterward just describe what temperatures were used to calculate or test the B-value. For example, in the datasheet you list, B25/100 means B value was determined by resistance measurements at 25C and 100C. This is described on page 12 of the datasheet B57861 datasheet.

    Regards,
    Karl
  • Daniel,

I think Karl explained the B-value in detail and I do not need to elaborate.

On the Digikey screenshot that was cropped off, it also shows "Resistance in Ohms @ 25°C" as a filter option. This value is 10k, and then you can further filter by the B-value.
