TPS65910: questions for using TPS65910 as a power source of AM3352

Hi,

I have two questions as below.

1.     TPS65910A3A1 vs TPS65910A31A1

-. The difference between the two versions is the VRTC power mode in OFF state as shown below. What's the difference?
(To minimize battery usage on the device, the AM3352 must be powered off except for the RTC.)




2. Check the power consumption in Normal / Deep sleep 0 / RTC only mode of AM3352.
-. Since all of the power of the AM3352 is supplied by the TPS65910, Power consumption is required in terms of the TPS65910 for the above three modes.
(The power consumption of the TPS65910 includes the DC / DC converter efficiency inside the PMIC + PMIC's own power consumption.)

    Thanks for contacting us. Please see my answers below.

    1. in TPS65910A31A1 (VRTC_REG.VRTC_OFFMASK = 1) means that VRTC LDO will stay powered on during low power mode. I think this is the version if you want VRTC stay powered on during low power mode.

    2. I found following specification regarding AM3352 power consumption.

    If you want more detailed power consumption for AM3352 device, please contact processor team and use their information to calculate power into the TPS65910 based on your use case.

    Hi TS,

    Power consumption of the TPS65910 with no loads is outlined in section 5.8 (Power Consumption) in the TPS65910 datasheet. If you have the load current for each rail on the TPS65910, then you can roughly estimate input power based on Power Consumption + (SMPS Load Current * SMPS Output Voltage) / SMPS Conversion Efficiency + LDO Load Current * Input Voltage.

    Unfortunately I don't have any information regarding the processor current in the various modes.
