I have just tested the TPS55010 Evalboard. In idle-mode, only supply (5V) connected I measure input current 75 mA.

With 50mA load, I measure input current 128 mA @ Vin=5V. That do not comply with the high efficiency specified in the Evalboard documentation.

The eval board, is direct from the box, no modification. If measure with thermal camera, the heat is generated in the IC.

At 50 mA load, the input current should be about 60 mA at 5 V input. How are you measuring the current? Can you tell us about your test set up?

The set-up is very simple a DC power supply, a multimeter i current mode and a 100 ohm resistor.
I have tried another eval board, that have the expected result/efficiency. So the problem is related to the first eval board.

I can tell you that the post manufacturing tests for the EVMs are simple checkouts. They are not tested for efficiency. I may have an additional comment later.

I have reviewed my measurements and concluded that the eval board was first destroyed when my DC supply reach the current limit. Maybe a over voltage peak.
