Hi, Russell,
The high side over current detection relies on the voltage drop between VDD and SW during HS ON interval.
Forcing the VIN below VDD voltage would trigger the high side OC protection, which would stop the converter.
So the short answer is this device can’t support split input rail operation, especially when VDD is higher than VIN.
