BQ27542-G1: The SOC Can not match my real capacity of battery

Part Number: BQ27542-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQ30Z55

Hi

     I complete a succes learning cycle and generate golden image;

     when i import the success golden docment to bq27542g1 with EV2400, bq studio interface shows the  SOC of battery(full charge)  still  80%,  when I reset, the SOC jump to real capacity .

    i dont konw why and i must perform the action that reset ?

  • hi Dendandon,

    There will always be initialization errors upon battery insertion because the gauge estimates the initial SOC based off the OCV reading. You need to make sure that during battery insertion, there is no current either in the charge or discharge direction to avoid wrong SOC estimates. Notwithstanding, after you charge the battery to full and discharge to empty the gauge accuracy should be optimal. Are you able to see this happen?

    thanks

    Onyx

                  Yes, when i import the golden docment, I'm sure there is no charing or discharging, the battery is full charged(4.35V).

                   and after one cycle, i charge the battery full again, I didnt see this situation happened, the battery  soc still have nearly 10%  error for my real capacity.

                   if i reset, it never happen again, my product work well, did it have any  hidden trouble to my product?

                   and i found another situation, the battery running(the gas gauge[bq30z55]  communication with host in I2C) and soc have 70% capacity,.

                   suddenly, the soc become 0%(i read the waveform of SOC with oscilloscope), there is no load or something else.

                   again, I reset it with BQ studio, SOC  turns normal level (70%)

                   the situation confuse me few weeks, i dont know how to solve it.
