BQ24195: question for the external extra reverse MOSFET Q1

Part Number: BQ24195

Hi,

In our BQ24195's datasheet, there is already have the internal RBFET Q1, why still need a external extra RBFET in the recommended circuit?

How about the difference for these two MOSFET?

  • Hello Wu,

While the OTG output on the bq24195 is through PMID; during boost mode, the internal Q1 remains on. This means the boost output voltage would still be seen on VBUS. The external FETs prevent the OTG voltage from being seen on the input of the device.

The external circuitry also helps disable OTG when an adapter is plugged in.
