LM27761: Maximum Cout value

Part Number: LM27761

Is there a (practical) maximum value for Cout? I am considering up to 100uF ceramic to help overcome the LM27761 output impedance for a pulsed load.

  • Hi Bryan,

I think at values that high, you are well past the point of diminishing returns and the switch resistance dominates. Is this related to your other thread?

As well, after the charge pump there is the LDO. So, the charge pump's output voltage can fall but the LDO can still maintain its Vout for some time (until Vin to the LDO falls too far).

As well, if Cout is increased, Cfly and Cin should also be increased so that there is a balanced transfer of charge between those 3 elements during each switching cycle.
  • Hi Chris, yes, I'm considering the LM27761 instead of the "discrete" charge pump circuit since it includes a LDO.

Thank you for the advice on balancing Cfly. Cin, and Cout.
