BQ3055: Meaning of "Battery Failure" flag in ManufacturerStatus Register

Part Number: BQ3055

In the ManufacturerStatus (0x0006) register of the BQ3055 the STATE3, STATE2, STATE1, STATE0 bits have a flag option:

1,1,0,0 = Battery Failure

There is no further mention of this flag/state in the BQ3055 Technical Reference.

I would like to know, under what conditions is this flag is raised?

We are seeing this flag raised in battery packs that have no other failure mode and appear to be performing as expected.

Hi Rowan,

1,1,0,0 Battery Fail indicates that the states of failure is temporary and is either:
1) Under Voltage CUV
2) Over Voltage COV
3) AFE Hardware Protection SCD, SCC, OLD
4) AFE Watchdog Fault
