TPS55340-Q1: Cinx & Coutx on WEBENCH Schematic

Part Number: TPS55340-Q1

Dear, Sir.

I tried to use WEBENCH for TPS55340-Q1.

After the input completion, Schematic was created.

Cinx & Coutx are observed it on, but no detail description on the datasheet.

Could you please explain the aim of those capacitors, Cinx & Coutx.

I am expecting your advice.

Best Regards,

H. Sakai

  • Cin is to filter the input current ripple. As there's a inductor at the input side, cin can be a small value. Its selection is not critical.

Cout is for the output voltage ripple requiirement. please check the attched file.

  • Dear, Helen-san.

Thank you for your reply and teachings.

On the datasheet, C1 & C6 are not populated.

The other side, 100nF(high ESR) & 1uF(low ESR) are populated on

    created schematic by WEBENCH.

I would like to know there were a kind of special aim on those 2 capacitors.

    Sorry to ask you, again.

    Best Regards,

    H. Sakai

  • Cinx=100nF and Coutx=1uF is for high frequency noise filtering. if the output power is not big and there's no EMI requirement, then these two caps is not needed. if you want to add them to your pcb layout, suggest you place them very close to the IC to make them more effective.
