The interval of reading CC adc value.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76940, BQ76930, TIDA-00449

Hi expert,
We refer to two different documents that they all mentioned the intervals to get the CC value.
1. In "tiduar8b.pdf" chapter 4.2.6 - Firmware, ....ISENSE (battery current through the shunt resistor) is checked with a 10-ms task loop,
2. In "bq76940.pdf" chapter 7.3.1.1.3 - 16-Bit CC, A 16-bit integrating ADC, .......... The integration period for this reading is 250 ms.
They are both using BQ76930 AFE, why the intervals are different and which one should I use?

thanks

  • Hi Liao,
The TIDA-00449 implemented a faster coarser current measurement independent of the bq76930 in addition to the current measurement available from the CC of the bq76930. The 10 ms loop refers to the ISENSE technique, see the ISENSE net on page 4 of the TIDA-00449 schematic tidrht7. If you have implemented a fast current measurement path, use the faster interval for it and CC value available at 250 ms interval when appropriate. Also see you other post.
