BQ20Z40-R1: CFETF causes

Part Number: BQ20Z40-R1

Hello,

I'm looking for all possible criteria that can possibly cause a charging FET failure. I have a battery pack that I am leaving on a charger that seems to cause a CFETF PF when left overnight.

Thank You

Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Please check to see if the Charge and pre-charge FET (if enabled) have been set to off and charge current still exists in excess of 50 mA. This condition can trigger the FET Fault detection process. If the CFETF condition does not clear prior to the expiration of the FET Fail Time timer, then the CFETC will be set in PF Status, a possible trigger to many permanent protection features.

For more information on these protection features that can be triggered, please refer to section 3.4 of www.ti.com/.../slua511b.pdf

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
