WEBENCH® Tools/TPS63070: TPS63070 webbench design not working

Part Number: TPS63070

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello

I am using the TPS63070 for the first time in a battery powered application. I followed the following web bench design. The design is for a output voltage of 3.3V from a single cell Lithium Ion battery. But the results are drastically different. The output voltage I get is over 10V and the voltage on the feedback pin is over 2V. How can I trouble shoot this?

PG pin is always low. Essentially the regulation does not seem to be happening.

I have tried 1uH and 2.2uH with 20uF and 47uF output capacitors respectively. Under no load and light load conditions.

I have used many web bench designs in the past with reliable results everytime. This is the first time I am having a problem with a web bench design.

  • Taking a look at the webench schematic, the device is expected to regulate although the design could be optimized,
It looks like the device is damaged to me. Did you try to replace the IC?
Could you please share the layout?
This may also come from the measurement setup , could you try to connect a TPS63070EVM and check the same operating conditions?
  • Hello Sabrina

Thanks for the reply. We traced and fixed the problem. It was order shipment error on our vendor's end. They had shipped the TPS630701 (fixed 5V) instead of the TPS63070 and hence the problem.

In hindsight all the results we observed are consistent with the mistake. It never occurred to me that this could be the problem!
