BQ40Z50-R2: OCD1 delay time setting question

Hi, Team,

My customer set the software delay by OCD1 with the BQ40z50-R2. They set the value as 2s, but test the waveform, the actually delay time is 3.6s. Why is there so big different? Thanks!

    Hi Wu,

    The firmware protection is not intended to be fast. It is checked every 1 s in active mode, so if the OCD1 event it not detected in the first second, it will be detected in the following second window. The delay may be up to 2s greater than what is set as the delay for OCD1.

    For fast response, please use the AFE Protection. Please refer to section 2.7 and 15.2.6 of the TRM for more information on the Hardware-Based Protection offered in AFE Protection Configuration: www.ti.com/.../sluubk0a.pdf
