BQ40Z50-R1: The problem of use several registers in the SOC Flag Config A?

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Use of several registers in the SOC Flag Config A:

1. TCSETVCT (Enable TC flag set by primary charge termination) : when the end charging flag of bq40z50-r1 is triggered, and the FET Option[CHGFET] = 1, will the charging FET be closed?

.2. TDCLEARRSOC (Enable TD flag clear by RSOC threshold) : when the termination discharge flag of bq40z50-r1 is triggered, what needs to be configured and the discharge FET will be closed?

  • Hi Jason,
    1. If you get the TC flag condition when using theFET Option[CHGFET] =1 setting, the charge FET will disable. I would think of disabling the FET as opening the FET or closing the path to stop current (rather than closing the FET to allow current). Please check the terminology.
    2. The TD flag is not a condition of the discharge FET action. See section 4.12 of the technical reference manual. While TCA can provide a charge FET action, TD or TDA does not. If the discharge FET has opened it is likely from a protection, and that recovery mechanism must be met to close the FET.
A good way to determine what is happening is to log the registers as the pack is cycled and review the alert and status changes compared to the configurations.
