BQ76930: bq76930

Part Number: BQ76930

Hello TI Experts,

I am using bq76930+ STM32 MCU  for six cells ~

Now the max voltage error is 15mV per cell~and the minimum voltage error is 2mV(read by  I2C)

I want to figure out if BQ76930 can correct the written register~

  • Hi Fawn,
The bq76930 cell measurement has a +/-10 mV 25C typical accuracy from 3.6 to 4.3 V. The 2 mV is certainly more typical but the 15mV is allowed by the specification. Note also the characteristic shown in figure 6-2 of the data sheet. If you have applied the stored calibration in the part to the measurements in your MCU the offset values of the cells should be minimized, the part does not have the capability or registers to adjust individual values and there is only the 1 stored value for the MCU to apply to all cells.
Your MCU code could provide a per-cell offset calibration at a voltage of interest. These would be stored and applied in the MCU.
  • Dear WM5295
Thank you very much for your help~
I have another question needs your help~

I use two BQ76930 for 16cells,but I found that the die temperture on the top side is 10℃ higher than the bottom side~
(TOP side temperature is 34℃ bottom side temperature is 24℃) Is it normal phenomenon?
  • Hi Fawn,
That seems unusual. you might check the temperature of the devices to see if the packages are being heated either internally or externally. You might also check current into the power pins.
Note that each bq76930 has 2 internal temperatures, 1 and 2. It is not uncommon for temperature 1 to be higher since the bottom group also sees the REGSRC to REGOUT current heating.
