SM72295: Recommended Pin Configuration when not using Current Sense Amplifiers

Part Number: SM72295

Dear TI Community,

I would like to use the SM72295 Full Bridge Driver in my new magnetic bearing amplifier design. Current measurement is done by a discrete device thus I don't need the two current sense amplifiers.

What is the recommended pin termination in this case. Do I leave all related pins (SIA SIA IIN BIN SOB SIB IOUT BOUT) floating or do I tie them to GND except for BOUT and BIN?

Thanks very much for your Help!

Kind regards, Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Pins SIB, SOB, SIA, SOA, IIN, IOUT should all be tied to AGND since you're not using the current sensing features of this device.

    Happy Holidays!

  • Hi Michael,

I am an apps enginner for HPD also working with Mamadou and SM72295, I am curious exactly how you are using SM72295 in your magnetic bearing design?

Could you possibly tell me some of you design constraints? or show me a snippet of where the SM72295 is being used in the schematic?

    Thanks
