TPS2491DGSR MOSFET PART SUBSTITUTION

On the data sheet the IRF540NS, however the availability for that part is not so good.  What would be a good part substitution for this part?

Would the 2SK2503 be a good part substitution?

Thanks,

Matt

  • The device selection will be driven by your application and the various calculations (see online tool) that must be made.  That particular part may, or may not be appropriate for your application.

Availability of that specific part appears to be good from the IR product webpage "Distributor Inventory" link.

Generally speaking, substitution of a 60V, 5A part for a 100V, 36A part would not be considered a good substitution unless you have additional information concerning the application.

  • The key point to consider is what is your applications nominal voltage, peak currents, and most importantly; how much inductance is in the line? This will help you quantify what a peak transient might look like and therefore the Vdss rating for the FET.

    I hope this helps.
