BQ40Z60: GPCCHEM and EVM

Part Number: BQ40Z60
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, BQSTUDIO,

I'm working on a 3S design with the BQ40Z60. I've tested basic charging/discharging/safety futures using the BQ40z60EVM-578. Now I want to determine the chemistry of my cells (10440 li-ion). Can I do this with the EVM and bqStudio? I've found the GPCCHEM tool, but I cannot find the GPC packager tool that is mentioned in the manual?

  • Hi Allard,

    bqStudio can be used to create the log. Please configure the device, then on the registers screen click on 'start log' to begin logging. Follow the steps outlined in the GPCCHEM User's Manual: www.ti.com/.../slva725.pdf to properly charge/discharge the battery manually using a supply, electronic load and the gauge evm.

    To create the package, follow the steps in the GPCCHEM User's Manual: www.ti.com/.../slva725.pdf
    - Properly name your data log file as roomtemp_rel_dis_rel.csv
    - Create a Configuration file and properly name it as Config.txt

    Typical settings for the configuration file are:
    ProcessingType=2
    NumCellSeries=1
    ElapsedTimeColumn=0
    VoltageColumn=1
    CurrentColumn=2
    TemperatureColumn=3

    Create you zip archive as described in the GPCCHEM User's Manual and upload your archive here: www.ti.com/.../gpcUpload.tsp

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
