BQ2970: Configuring/programming BQ2970 to monitor single 8.4V Lithium Ion battery

Part Number: BQ2970

Hello TI,

I plan to use BQ2970x to monitor 8.4 Lithium ion battery, but I am not sure whether it is possible to use that IC for my application.  The DS mentions that it can accept up-to 12VDC as input, and if so, how can I change various thresholds for battery monitoring. E.g. I don't want battery voltage to drop below 5.4VDC. Please revert back at earliest.

Regards,

  • Hello Sumeet,

The device is a singel cell protector and it appears you plan on using it for a 2s applicataion. You may use a voltage divider for the input into the chip to reduce the voltage to 4.2 and then choose an appropriate part number having the protection settings you desire. You cannot change the protection settings.
    thanks
