BQ24610: bq24610 for 6S Battery,the chip damage.

Part Number: BQ24610

Dear All:

I use BQ24610 charge six lithium batteries,The input voltage is 26V,when plug the adapter multiple times,BQ24610 1&2pin probabilistic burn out,and the lithium battery is inserted multiple times,BQ24610 20pin impedance to GND is less than 100 ohm.The chip damage. Now I add a schottky  between the inductance(L1) and the sense resistance(R18),prevent the peak damage of the PH when the battery is inserted.what is the risk of this circuit and need to add OVP protection chip in the input?D30 V1.0 SCH 1231.pdf

  •  The battery detection function will not work when adding a schottky between the inductor and the sense resistor.

Please capture the voltage waveform at ACN ACP when input is plugged in

Also capture the voltage at PH when battery is plugged in.

Based on your description, the damage looks like cause by over voltage.

If the voltage at these pins exceed the voltage rating on our IC, you will need to add ovp protection at the input.
