BQ34Z100-G1: Unable to send the device into "UNSEAL MODE"

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hello,

I have read in the datasheet of the device that device should be in "UNSEAL MODE" to calibrate voltage and current.

I am using 13S battery for calibration. Using bqstudio for this and EV2300 module. When I do UNSEAL mode using command box, there is no result in it and i think it does not go in UNSEAL mode.

So, how to go in UNSEAL mode and calibrate the device?

  • What is the status of the FAS and SS bits in control status register? Do you do a refresh after sending command to check updated the status of the FAS and SS bits?
  • Hi Ritul,

In bqStudio, please go to Advanced Communcation Mode.

With the following commands, please execute them in quick succession (less than 4 seconds apart)

    1. Disable auto-refresh

    2. To address 0x00, type in 0414 in the control field.  Press enter

    3. To address 0x00, type in 3672 into the control field.  Press enter

    4. Hit refresh and switch to the registers tab to see if the SS flag turns green.

If the SS Flag turns green, repeat the above steps and enter the Full Access Pass Codes FFFF with step 2, and FFFF with step 3.

If you have changes the Full Access Pass Codes, enter those values instead (please note: the bytes must be in little endian)

If these steps do not appear to unseal work, please send the output from a logic analyzer and mark where the command is being sent.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler

  • Hello Damian,

The status of FAF = Green and SS = Green.

I have refreshed after sending command to check updated status of the FAS and SS bits.

  • Hello Bryan,

I have followed the steps provided by you. I have taken outputs of Logic analyser and bqstudio screens.

Logic analyser output shows output of

    1. 0414    3672

    2. ffff     ffff

Status bits of FAS and SS are still green only after refreshing on GUI.

I am unable to Unseal the device and calibrate voltage.

Please find attached files of bqstudio screens. I unable to attach logic analyser files as they are heavy. Can you provide me your personal email where i can send to you.

    New folder (3).rar

  • Continued with my previous post.

I am attaching the excel file of the DATA captured on logic analyser with proper marking of inputing the data.

    New folder (4).rar

  • Hi,

    I have the same problem.
I was in a process of learning charge discharge cycles, and suddenly i am not able to unseal the chip.
I have not changed any code/key. I followed the procedure Bryan gave above, still no success.

    Any clues whats going on?
  • Hi Harshang,
You can program default SREC file and check it.
