WEBENCH® Tools/LM5141: Duty Cycle limitation of LM5141

Part Number: LM5141

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Team,

my customer wants to use the LM5141 in an application where input voltage is 11-24V and output voltage should be 10.5V. The website states that LM5141 supports 99% duty cycle while I don't find that value inside the datasheet. Webench says the device is limited to 85% and doesn't wont to simulate. Can you please clarify if the device can be used in that application?

Best regards,

Simon

  • Simon ,

What would be the switching frequency of your design ?
Assuming 400KHz , the max duty cycle allowed is Vout/Vin = (Tsw-Toff)/Tsw(neglecting drop across high side FET as well as DCR of Inductor) . Fixing Vout to 10.5V , Tsw=1/400K ,Toff(min worst case -from datasheet)=100nS, Vin comes out to be 10.95V and hence you should be able to use the device for your application .
