TPS544C20: Disabling Overcurrent Shutdown based on Current Measurement through PMBus

Part Number: TPS544C20

Hi all,

The title essentially describes the question. Is there any way through PMBus to disable the overcurrent shutdown based on the current measurement?

Thanks

  • Hi, Matt,

For TPS544C20, there are two options for over current response: shut down without retry (latch off) and shut down then retry (hiccup), which can be selected through PMBUS command IOUT_OC_FAULT_RESPONSE (47h).

There is no user accessible option to disable the shutdown response.

Other than changing the response, a feasible method to avoid OC shutdown is increasing the OCP threshold through PMBUS command IOUT_OC_FAULT_LIMIT (46h), the maximum programmable OCF threshold is 45A for TPS544C20.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
