BQ24266 charging problem

Hi Team,

I am getting the problem while charging my Li-on Battery.

I tested following way

1.   IUSB3 and IUSB2 is high (BAT/DRV supply) and IUSB1 is GND (2.5A)

2.   i check the voltage across BAT and ground ,It is 0 V.

3.   V_OUT is 4.2V

4.   PG LED is glowing.

5.   when i am connecting the battery CHR led is glowing.

6.   VDPM voltage is 1.5V

M attaching the my schismatic, please help me in that.

Regards

  • Raj,

I am puzzled how V(BAT) to GND can be 0V but V(OUT) to GND is 4.2V. There is only a FET connecting BAT to SYS. If BAT is shorted to GND, SYS should be too.

Regardless, what is the voltage at VBUS when you think the battery should be charging? Can your power supply provide 2.5A without collapsing? If not, then VINDPM may be reducing the input current limit? What is load on OUT? If large, it could be robbing all of the battery charge current. What is the voltage on TS? It needs to be 1/2 way between DRV and GND. A 10kohm thermistor is required for the TS pin resistors that you have selected.

Have you ordered a bq24266EVM and tested for setup using the EVM?
  • Hey Raj,

Just to add on to what Jeff asked and said:

I have several questions about your comments and your schematic:

    2) The voltage you checked across BAT and GND was 0V. Is your battery properly connected? Where are your measurement points?

    3) V_OUT is 4.2V, I could not find V_OUT on your schematic; could you tell me where this node is?

    4) The PG LED is glowing. Do you mean it is blinking, or is it a solid color?

    5) When you connect the battery, CHR is glowing. Again, is this a solid light or a blinking light?

    6) VDPM is 1.5V, is this measured? What is your input voltage?

  • Hi Joel H,

    Thank u for replying.

    1) No Battery is good condition, I measeure the voltage across the connector(P4) BAT and GND.

    2) sorry not V_OUT , is 5v_BOUT.

    3) it is a solid color.

    4) while giving the supply to the BQ2466. and it is solid color.

    5) yes i measure, the voltage across VDPM and GND. Input is 5V DC(5v_BIN).

    Regards

    Raj

  • Hi Jeff F,

    Thanks for your reply.
I am measuring the voltage across BAT and GND without putting the Battery.

Input votage is 5V (5v_BIN). Yes i provided the power supply 5V/3A.
Out load is GSM(SIM800C) but i am not applying the load just i am testing the circuit of BQ2466.
    TC volatge is 3.32V.

yes i have order BQ2466RGER. No i didn't tested EVM.
  • Hey Raj,

I am confused by the resistor values of IUSB1, 2, and 3. Are those 0 Ohm resistors tied to both ground and DRV or BAT (R7, R7, R11, R12, R13, R14)? Are these also connected to an MCU somewhere?

Can you also provide oscilloscope waveforms of the IN pin, BAT pin, the SW node, and the SYS pin, especially after startup?

    Regards,
