Hi,

I had purchased BQ34110EVM few weeks back, and started testing it. At the first attempt, i was able to detect my device and configure it according to my setup. (FYI: i have a 3S cell configuration of Li ion, communication through EV2300) Things were fine at first, and I was able to discharge my battery through my load at 2.8A too.

After a small break, when I restarted my setup, I was not able to detect my device anymore! and I also noticed that the BMS was consuming some 30mA from the battery pack, without a load connected across it. I am not able to establish any communication with my device anymore.

Is my device dead?

how do i check the vitals?

Hi Lakshimi,

Please power on the device and scope the TS pin. You should see a pulse on the TS pin, if not, considering the device is sinking 30 mA, the magic smoke may have been released.

Please copy the schematic from the EVM User's Guide, notate your jumpers and other connections, and attach to this thread. Thanks!

I checked the TS Pin. It is wierd that when my board is connected to EV2300, the TS pins does not seem to be pulstaing, but when I disconnect my board from EV2300, it starts pulsating. I checked if there was some defect with EV2300, but NO it is working fine with other EVMs that i am testing. What could be the issue. I am not able to figure it out.

Hi Lakshimi,

What version of the firmware is on your EV2300? It may require an update. If the version is 3.1C, please follow the update instructions found here: e2e.ti.com/.../3225.EV2300FWUpdaterUnprogDev.zip
